The Hunger Games.
Expectations can change they way people see a movie. Such is the hype machine. For me, The Hunger Games was a culmination of weeks/months of people telling me how freaking good it was/it is. I went in with pretty high expectations, and it fell a bit flat. That’s not to say it’s a bad movie - in fact, it’s extremely watchable, but it doesn’t do anything new. I did take issue with the fact that the film revolves around the annual “sacrifice” of 23 young people with one winner, yet nobody seems phased by this. You’re making children fight for entertainment (and to remember… something…) and nobody questions it. Still, there’s some fine little actors in the film, and it’s interesting enough - just don’t believe the hype.
3 Stars.
